Smart D8 Partners with Foroige to Deliver Mental Health First Aid Workshop for Students at CBS James’s Street
This week, on April 16th, Smart D8 is partnering with Foroige to deliver a Mental Health First Aid workshop for students at CBS James’s Street.
The workshop was organised by young people involved in Foroige as part of their Citizenship Awards. This initiative highlights the important role young people play in shaping projects that respond to the needs of their peers and wider community.
The session is being delivered by facilitator Kieran Doyle and focuses on the Mental Health First Aid for Teenagers programme. It aims to equip students with practical skills to recognise and respond to signs of mental distress, both in themselves and in others.
Throughout the workshop, students will explore how to identify when someone may be struggling, how to respond using the ALGEE Action Plan, and how to access appropriate supports. The session also emphasises the importance of maintaining personal wellbeing.
By building awareness and confidence in responding to mental health challenges, programmes such as this contribute to creating supportive school environments where students feel better prepared to look after themselves and one another.
As always, Smart D8 is delighted to support initiatives that empower young people and promote positive mental health within the community.
