Mental Health First Aid Workshop for Students at CBS James’s Street

Smart D8 Partners with Foroige to Deliver Mental Health First Aid Workshop for Students at CBS James’s Street

This week, on April 16th, Smart D8 is partnering with Foroige to deliver a Mental Health First Aid workshop for students at CBS James’s Street.

The workshop was organised by young people involved in Foroige as part of their Citizenship Awards. This initiative highlights the important role young people play in shaping projects that respond to the needs of their peers and wider community.

The session is being delivered by facilitator Kieran Doyle and focuses on the Mental Health First Aid for Teenagers programme. It aims to equip students with practical skills to recognise and respond to signs of mental distress, both in themselves and in others.

Throughout the workshop, students will explore how to identify when someone may be struggling, how to respond using the ALGEE Action Plan, and how to access appropriate supports. The session also emphasises the importance of maintaining personal wellbeing.

By building awareness and confidence in responding to mental health challenges, programmes such as this contribute to creating supportive school environments where students feel better prepared to look after themselves and one another.

As always, Smart D8 is delighted to support initiatives that empower young people and promote positive mental health within the community.

Creating Space to Recharge: International Women’s Day Sound Bath Event

When was the last time you truly switched off? Not just from your screen, but from the constant mental to-do list of tasks and responsibilities.

For many women, the demands of daily life – balancing work, family, and community roles – can often lead to giving more than they have to give. Taking time to pause and recharge is not always easy, but it is essential for maintaining wellbeing.

On March 10th, in celebration of International Women’s Day, Smart D8 was proud to partner with Fatima Groups United to create a dedicated space for rest, reflection and restoration.

Participants were invited to take part in a guided sound bath led by Simone Meschnig. The session offered a calming and immersive experience, using Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, chimes and voice to promote a deep sense of relaxation and tranquillity.

The event provided an opportunity for attendees to step away from daily pressures, reconnect with themselves, and focus on their own wellbeing in a supportive environment.

We would like to thank everyone who joined us and took the time to pause, recharge and refill their cups.

Smart D8 remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote wellbeing and create meaningful opportunities for connection within the community.
