MoveAhead is one of the four pilot-project proposals selected for the third call for pilots launched in March 2023, which focused on three themes: positive and healthy ageing; connecting patients in the community; and population-health management. 

MoveAhead is the world’s first motion tracking and movement analytics platform to improve children’s health-related movements.

MoveAhead is a Dublin City University spin-out tackling a movement crisis in childhood brought on by the increasingly digital play habits of modern children. 

MoveAhead is bringing to the table 15 years of world-leading research on children’s movement science, alongside the largest data set in the world on children’s movement skills, and state-of-the-art computer-vision techniques, uniquely applied to children. 

For the Smart D8 project, MoveAhead aims to bring its movement-based app and games to schools and after-schools in the Dublin 8 community.  

MoveAhead seeks to explore the barriers and facilitators to using this technology in the school and community setting.  

It also aims to analyse and improve the user experience, and provide objective measurement of children’s physical activity and development, while also supporting improvement in physical skills.
